In the first four months of this fiscal year (July to October), the total export revenue of Pakistani footwear decreased by about 15% compared to the same period last year, mainly due to the significant decline in leather footwear exports.
According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan exported a total of 7.77 million pairs of footwear products in the first four months of this fiscal year, with export revenue of 53.11 million US dollars, a decrease of 7.13% and 15.07% compared to the same period last year.
During the same period, Pakistan exported 2.93 million pairs of leather shoes, with an export value of 42.54 million US dollars, a decrease of 14.61% and 16.98% compared to the first four months of the previous fiscal year. During this period, leather shoe exports accounted for 82% of the total footwear exports.
During the same period, 4.77 million pairs of other footwear products were exported, with an export value of 9.36 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 26.26% and a decrease of 14.93%, respectively. Among them, the export volume and export value of the canvas shoe sub market increased by 57.62% and 316.13% year-on-year, respectively. In addition, the export value of finished leather decreased by 25.01% year-on-year to $44.91 million.
Last year, Pakistan became the seventh largest footwear producer in the world, with its products mainly targeting the domestic market. According to the 2023 World Footwear Yearbook, Pakistan ranks 46th among global shoe exporting countries.
